This will be an unusual type of meeting for SMPTE, but we felt this offer to demonstrate how moving-image technology is being used for training can be of considerable interest to our members and their guests.

Over the years, Film makers and our military have shared a rich history of working together. In the past, technologies of making movies, and the technology used by the Army to protect our country had been quite different. Today that has changed.

The way battles are fought and won depend on new approaches and strategies in training our troops. Today, if you tour the current training camps, you will find special effects being used to simulate explosions, extensive use of video and audio to simulate the battle, and use of ENG technologies in a unique way. It is all employed to prepare our men and women so they may avoid mistakes once they are deployed. Motion Picture technologies are also used in the healing of the wounded warrior.  Treatment centers now use advanced methods for treating injuries.

Please join your Army May 20th when we will learn about how our technologies contribute to our country's defense, training, battlefield operations and treatment centers.
